Belvoir Park Primary School, which opened in 1965, is situated in the heart of Belvoir Estate in South Belfast. It has an excellent school building and it is well equipped and surrounded by open and attractive grass areas with mature trees and benefits from access to the EA Youth Centre as well as connections to Belvoir Players, Belvoir Activity Centre and Belvoir Forest Park to provide a wide range of opportunities for the pupils.

 

As well as 7 mainstream classes, Belvoir Park has a Nursery unit offering 52 fulltime places. A key part of Belvoir Park Primary is its specialist provision, offering up to 68 places to pupils with Speech and Language/Social Communication Difficulties.

 

Belvoir Park Primary is an inclusive school where all children are given opportunities to develop self-respect, self-confidence and independence. Accommodation consists of 16 classrooms, Playroom, Computer Suite, Learning Support room, Treetops Breakfast club/after-school, Library/Music room, Staff Room, Principal’s Office, Admin offices, Sensory Room (The Den), Calm Room, Assembly Hall, Dinner hall, a Speech Therapy suite and a Nursery Unit with 2 classrooms. 2 further classrooms are rented out to peripatetic support for the visually and hearing impaired.

 

Present staffing is the Principal plus 15 classroom based full-time teaching roles, 8 of which are job shares. Belvoir Park also has a two, part-time Learning Support teachers. The present P1-7 enrolment is 260. To support the teachers and children there are currently 35 across 28 classroom assistant roles.

 

Belvoir Nursery Unit has 2 fulltime teaching roles covered by 3 staff. There are also 2 fulltime nursery assistants and 1 general assistant. 1 additional position is there to support 1 child with medical needs. The present enrolment is 52 children.
